Air Force Worth the Hype.

By xlarge @ 4:19 pm

On the real, Nike got enough loot to promote their new boots themselves…but I must say that the second coming of the Air Force is worth the hype. While it is laced with state of the art features, it thankfully has subtle nuances of its retro lineage and doesn’t look like some hi-tech alien hobbit foot as do most of Nike’s new B-Ball shoes (the LeBron, and the Kobe). So ups to Nike for making something new that doesn’t stun us with Future Shock for a change. The retro shit is getting a little played so let’s hope that Nike & rest of the sneaker companies can come out with some future classics so they don’t have to rely on throwing “Limited Editions” on tired relics.

Mr. Cartoon Presents “Lost Angels”.

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 12:54 pm

Mr. Cartoon, a good friend to XLarge, just came out with one of the coolest vinyl figures I’ve seen in a long time. He collaborated with SuperRad Toys to make the “Lost Angels” 14” figure. Check out the intricate tattoos with removable Nike Cortez and Air Force-1s. It also comes with a ghetto blaster, T-Mobile Sidekick phone, and SA Studio necklace. It doesn’t get more West Coast than this.

LG X Prada Phone

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 5:41 pm

LG Electronics and PRADA teamed up to launch its first completely touch-screen mobile phone, KE850. The South Korean company said it will start selling the new mobile phone that incorporates a buttonless touch-screen next month. With a large touch-screen display, the “LG Prada” looks to give the Apple’s recently launched iPhone a run for its money.

The KE850 is actually smaller than the iPhone and features a user interface built on top of Adobe’s Macromedia Flash technology. Its extra wide LCD screen maximizes visual impact, allowing the user to benefit from several key features of the phone. Like the iPhone, it also includes 2 megapixel camera featuring Schneider-Kreuznach lens, and video player and document viewer capacity. The phone supports Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity and includes a Micro SD memory slot, which allows users to increase memory capacity for images, music and film clips.

Here’s the kicker: The PRADA phone by LG will go on sale in late February for $780 at mobile phone dealers and Prada stores in Britain, France, Germany and Italy, and comes to Asian countries, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore, in March. THE COMPANY, HOWEVER, HAS NO PLANS FOR A US RELEASE. If you get a chance to travel or know people in those countries mentioned above, you can try to get one and “one up” the rest of the poor Americans who can only get the iPhone.

Every generation needs a revolution

By XLarge.com @ 4:16 am

So said Thomas Jefferson - welcome to the XLarge blogs.  Jumping head first into social media can’t be done just on a whim, you’ve got to have something to say, a wrong to right, a cause to stand up for - even if it’s just to fight for your right to party or you need two girlies and a quart of beer.

At XLarge we’re a part of a revolution - a generation of living large - LIVIN’ XLARGE.  Kicking back, laying low, laugh at ourselves, laugh at the guy standing next to you, spread peace and love to everyone you know, and above all else - do it in a style that represents something bigger than yourself, something that is bigger than big, it’s XLarge.

For over 15 years we’ve giving you the very best of skate, hip-hop, and street wear fashion and we’re not about to stop now - our designs are timeless.  That t-shirt that you’ve worn umpteen million times and it keeps getting softer every time you wear it - you know the one - that’s what we’re talking about.  Individuality, uniqueness, the YOU - everlasting and always making a statement without every saying a damn word about it.  Welcome to our world - we’re glad to be a part of yours.

Happy New Year!

By XLarge.com @ 6:44 pm

Another year in the books, even though 2006 was a great year we’re really stoked about 2007. There’s going to be a lot of rad things going down. Just to bring you up to speed:

The website has some small changes to it and will be updated on a daily basis, so come visit us everyday to see what’s happening on our end as well as any other news among the XLARGE friends and family. Or you can come by just to read us rant and rave about everything from art, music, politics, food, Southern California traffic, bars, and of course clothes.

We have an ASSLOAD of projects on the horizon in ’07. You can expect to see more limited collaborations with different artists and labels, promotional events and parties, and our XLARGE Flagship store is going to have some very special things going on at their end.

The Flagship store in Los Angeles will have a new gallery space set up to feature up and coming artists as well as new work by established artists. There is going to be more XLARGE items that won’t be available at other stores in addition to exclusive items from underground labels and artists.
