BOON Magazine Japan

By rory @ 11:22 am

Some pages from the feature on Xlarge in Boon Magazine Japan. It’s all in Japanese…and since our comprehension of the Japanese language is pretty much limited to vulgarities, the only thing I know for sure is that nowhere in the article are we called ‘assholes’. Who cares what it says…the pictures are nice. Thanks Stan at Xlarge Taiwain for the images.

XLarge in Flaunt Magazine

By xlarge @ 11:14 am

flaunt-cover.jpg

Flaunt Magazine’s, a lifestyle/art/entertainment magazine based out of LA, new issue is out on the stands now. This issue is all about the tumultuous/complacent ’90’s: with articles about the rave drug scene, Los Angeles in crises due to the largest race riot in US history and nonstop natural disasters, interviews with alt-rockers Frank Black, Thurston Moore and Krist Noveselic, and a fashion spread inspired from the ’90’s. And how can you have a fashion spread about the ’90’s without having XLARGE, one of the seminal streetwear brands that started in 1991?

One of the dopest shirts in recent memory.

By xlarge @ 10:43 am

Daniel Park of Future Rockstars of America produced one of the dopest shirts in recent memory. Only 50 were printed, so you may already be shit out of luck. Looking forward to what this company has in stored for the future. Don’t sleep.

halloween

By rory @ 3:21 pm

Showing true Halloween spirit, Dave showed up today dressed as the UPS man…with package in tow. I was hoping he was bringing the Summer 59/Fifty cap samples from New Era…but it was only a big box of candy from Mama Chimo. ups.jpg

But the funniest thing was Jenni, who showed up dressed as me! The side-by-side is pretty scary:

And to make it official, she spent the day watching Japanese tetris videos on youtube and listening to Supertramp.

And Dave brought a pumpkin.

Badly Dressed Code.

By eli @ 4:15 pm

Its not just the crotchety old school boards making damn dress codes andregulations these days…now the NFL is getting into the act. Forty-niner coach, Mike Nolan, is only allowed to wear a suit and tie on the sidelines for the team’s eight home games as opposed to all 16 games on the schedule. The reason being Reebok, which has paid the NFL a gigantic licensing fee to market all the game day apparel for both on the field and on the sideline. Nolan’s bespoke attire seems to have added some gum to their gears.

This guy is just trying to add some dignity to the game (and honor his ailing father, former Niners head coach Dick Nolan, who donned a suit while he patrolled the sidelines during his tenure in the 60’s) and what does the NFL say-No dice pal, you have to look like all the other full grown adolescent jerk offs in tasteless off the rack casual team apparel.

Most NFL head coaches (even those considered geniuses) dress for games like they dress for all-u-can eat buffets. Nolan (see image) looks at least in the realm of respectability and after the game could probably score a table at a classy restaurant. The fact that he looks different may be the heart of the matter. What does that say about America’s game, so much for the “land of the free”…. please make checks payable to Reebok. (What country are they from anyway?)

In an ironic twist, the NFL league policy states that players and coaches must arrive at the stadium on game day in a collared shirt and shoes (not sneakers). So in effect the league is asking the coaches to dress down for the games. What’s next? Is the NFL going to mandate that coaches wear full uniforms including helmets next year ala Major League Baseball, where we have to endure the perversity of looking at fat 60 year old men dressed in little league outfits?

Dear NFL…have some respect for yourself.

Hey Gap! Go f*ck yer self!

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 9:57 pm

Gap, the authentically hip company they are, came out with “Williamsburg Jeans” with a tigher “hipster” fit. Man, the donkeys at Gap really have their ears to the street.
