Vegas Unity Mansion Recap.
|
Just got back from Las Vegas. It was hotter than Hades, but wouldn’t want to be anywhere else at that time. It was just like summer camp: Meeting up with old friends from all over the world, meeting new friends, and of course, doing business. Loaded up the van and crossed off our checklist for the 4 hour drive through Hell. This guy was definitely the only person I really wanted to see at the tradeshows. The Unity Mansion presented by Greyone and The Soul Assassins. XLARGE showed exclusively at this venue. Why? Because it is the best buying/selling experience in all of Vegas. In the true Vegas fashion, I’ll put money on that. We had the entire “Bugsy” Room turned into a gallery and showroom. XLARGE Bugsy Room. Hayden and Slick yucking it up. ![]() Kevin Ma. Anthony from Subdivision. Mister Cartoon, DJ Muggs, Estevan in front of Jay Horinouchi’s piece in our room. Lanie and Bam, by far my most favorite people who were in Vegas. They should be hired just for parties. They just light up the room. Andrew and Frank. Eddie and his cousin from Commune. Ssur. He had a flat screen hooked up to cable in his room so we all ended up watching the Yankee v. Red Sox game. Good to see New Yawkers in Vegas. What’s Jen looking at? What’s Bobby looking at? Yeah, this is what they were looking at…Don’t ask, because we were all asking. See you all next Spring. |

Corefighter
|
Hayden and I went to the new Corefighter office in downtown LA last week since they aren’t going to Vegas for the tradeshows. They’ve created a strong following in streetwear in Japan with their Japanese take on the West Coast biker/cholo look. This company is on the verge of blowing the lid off the streetwear industry in America, so watch out for these guys. I can’t show you too much product, but trust me when I say that the amount of detail and style that went into their cut and sew is definitely worth checking out. ![]() Hayden chillaxin’ like his name was McLovin. ![]() Suzuki from Corefighter. ![]() There were a lot of Mexican wrestling masks in the office, including these Mexican wrestling mask beanbags…Whatever they do with their free time is none of my business.

Pieces Coming Together.
|
Rory and I went to Studio Number One (Shepard Fairey’s design firm) to pick up the last piece for the XLARGE Unity Group Art Show. They’re located in the Wiltern Theatre building on Western and Wilshire, which I recently read, use to be considered the absolute center of Los Angeles. Not since Andy Warhol, or maybe even Marshall McLuhan, has someone changed the way so many people look at media and commercialized society. It can be successfully argued that his reach surpasses that of the aforementioned lumanaries. Who would of thought that Shep could start a revolution by modestly making wheat paste posters in the RISD basement and slapping stickers on crosswalk signs? Despite all the success and accolades he still remains very humble and approachable. ![]() Rory looking suspect. ![]() Shep in the lab mixing up concoctions. ![]() Phenomenology contextualized. ![]() A great example of phenomenology in relation to the surrounding environment and the American landscape. ![]() I spy Banksy. ![]() I spy The London Police. ![]() I spy WK. |

XLARGE Friday Lunch Day.
![]() Caribbean. ![]() Cha Cha Cha. The place was hot and muggy, but the food was pretty good. Friendly enough waitstaff, but could of used a little more water on a hot day like today. It’s a weird locations as well. Kind of in the middle of nowhere. I would recommend it for the food, but I doubt I’ll go out of my way to find it and eat there again. ![]() My jerk chicken pizza. ![]() Rory’s jerk chicken platter. ![]() Dave’s pulled pork platter. ![]() Jenni’s colorful snapper platter. I got a new camera since my old point and click got stolen. It’s a Panasonice Lumix. It works great. The colors in the pictures seem to pop more. It comes with a Leica lens, which I think makes a hugh difference in clarity and sharpness. It only cost a little over $200. Definitely worth the purchase. |
Enter the Dragon Remake.
![]() Hollywood is going to destroy a classic by remaking Enter the Dragon. What’s going to happen in another 10 years when there aren’t any more movies to remake? Are they going to remake the remakes? On top of that, who’s going to play Bruce Lee’s role? I’m sure they’re going to f*ck it up proper and probably cast douchebag of the century Colin Farrell.

David Beckham Scores First Goal in the MLS.
|
Yo, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want, I wrote about Beckham a while back when I first started writing this blog. Finally all the hype and expectations came to a head last night as Beckham scored his first goal in the MLS with a SICK 25 yard free kick.
Live broadcast. You will have to wait for the replay, because you’ll miss it when it happens in real time. Victoria and Cruz didn’t seem too impressed though. I guess she’s too preoccupied with the upcoming Spice Girls Reunion tour. Did you see how DC United keeper Troy Perkins got posterized? Beckham made him look (as the English would say) roite silly.
This one has more angles and with a Eurotrash techno beat soundtrack. |
