Mobius, first and only streetwear store in K-Town.

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 1:06 pm

Mobius just opened its doors about 3 weeks ago in the heart of Koreatown. It’s the only store of its kind in Koreatown LA. They may be the first sign of things to come in a neighborhood saturated with karaoke rooms, cheesy bars, and bbq joints. This place won’t be a secret for long.

They carry limited edition sneakers from Nike and BAPE, clothing lines: Hellz Bellz, FUCT, Crooks & Castles, 10 Deep, and XLARGE, and tons and tons of vinyl toys.

You guys should definitely go check it out. One of the better executed stores in LA. They’re located at:

3300 West 6th St.
Los Angeles, CA 90020

Wonhee, owner, at the entrace to the store.

Right next door to the religious cult known as Pinkberry.

Toki Doki, Dunnys, Bearbricks, etc., etc., etc.

Jordans, Dunks, BAPES, Supreme x Nike

Crooks, Hellz Bellz, XLARGE, 10 Deep, etc.

Yours truly.

Window display.

One in the know would think Koreatown LA would be littered with streetwear stores, but this is to the contrary. Let’s break down the Korean delegation within streetwear:

Ben Baller from Icee Fresh Jewels
Bobby Kim from The Hundreds
Jules Kim from Bijules
Rickey Kim from Evilmonito and Riottt
Bert from Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street
Kim Jong Ill from The Scarest and Weirdest Motherfucker on Earth.

Honorable mentions:

Andrew Chen from 3Sixteen. He’s Chinese, but he lives close to Flushing, works two blocks away from Koreatown Manhattan, and can kill a bowl of Soon Doo Bu like no other.

Nima Nabavi from Digital Gravel. He’s Persian, but he eats dinner at Korean bbq for his birthday.

Angelina Jolie from every man’s dreams.
I just want to ask her if she has any Korean in her…(hopefully you guys know the rest of that line.)

The second edition of the Sprite cans that XLARGE designed are out in circulation in Japan now. We got the entire collection in the office today. They look pretty dope, if I do say so myself.

XLARGE TAIWAN in LA

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 11:50 am

XLARGE’s reps out in Taiwan are out here in LA for the week. We took them out to dinner last night to catch up and celebrate the new store opening in Tainan. They were planning on hanging out in Palm Springs the rest of the week, but decided to come back to LA on Thursday for Dez’s Gallery Opening. That should add to the fun that night.

Us in the back parking lot of XLARGE. (Clockwise from left)Yi-Bling, Shawna, Chimo, Rory, Stan plus wife, and Stacie. I have no idea what Stan Lee and his wife are doing. Ahh, such lovebirds.

Dave- “You know how I know you’re gay, Paul? You have your arm around Stan Lee.”
Paul- “You know how I know you’re gay, Dave? You have a rainbow bumpersticker on your car that says ‘I love it when balls are in my face.’”

Working out the details…

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 3:45 pm

Had lunch today with XLARGE’s featured artist, Dez Einswell, to hammer out the details of the show and the show opening on Thursday. (If you guys needed another reminder: Gallery opening July 19th, Thursday at 7PM. Drinks porvided by Sapporo)

After lunch we ran to the paint store to figure out the best colorway for the installation. So many colors, so little time.

Greyone

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 4:55 pm

Visited Greyone and G1xSA for the first time. I of course heard all about the stores living out in the East Coast, but never had the chance to make it out there since I moved to LA. I had to run around town and drop off flyers for the Dez show, so it was the perfect chance for me to go to Pasadena. They’re some of the most genuine people in the game. XLARGE and Greyone will be doing a lot of special things in the upcoming half of this year. Keep your eyes peeled.

The Upstairs Gallery at XLARGE presents: Dez Einswell

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 11:44 am

Drawing since the age of four, it was evident that Dez Einswell possessed a vivid imagination, doodling for hours upon hours. Today Dez is no different, as he has created an alternate universe where its inhabitants known as “The Doodlebarn” venture forth and explore the world in unconventional means that are often silly and alarmingly at times dark. Dez casually states, “Children are the essence of freedom in the mind.” In many ways, what Dez implies is true, children are uninhibited in their ways and display an open air of curiosity, it’s something that when we all grow old, we seem to lose. Using a wide array of color and applying sharp bold strokes, the creation of the The Doodlebarn come alive as they seem to relish in grabbing our attention, drawing us into their world. A critical commentary on mankind’s innate want to remain young and optimistic, Dez Einswell allows us take a second glance at the lives we lead as adults…

We are proud to have him as our third artist in our gallery series. To commemorate this show Dez Einswell worked with XLARGE to produce special items that will be available exclusively at the XLARGE stores. The show opening will be on July 19th, Thursday. Drinks will be provided by Sapporo Beer.
