Friday XLARGE Lunch Day

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 3:26 pm

We went to Persia today for our Friday Lunch Day. Not familiar with Persia? Did any of you guys watch 300? Well apparently the people from Persia look like deformed monsters with a she-male leader named Xerxes who moonlights as Dhalsim in Street Fighter. Movies are always the best source for cultural information on an ethnic group.

Anyway, those Uber-Immortals sure know how to make a mean kabob. We went to Raffi’s in Glendale. Rory and Dave had the luleh kabob, Jenni had the Mahi Mahi kabob, and I had the shish kabob.

Double-Park is running this Streetwear Sh*t in Hong Kong.

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 11:23 am

Double-Park, a Hong Kong based distribution company, reps the marquee names in the streetwear and skate world. Staple, Recon, Upper Playground, Obey, Freshjive, and yours truly are just a few of the brands that Double-Park pimps. They are celebrating their 12th year anniversary this year and are commemorating it with this limited edition shirt available exclusively in their stores in Hong King Kong. The shirt is basically a NASCAR-esque tee with tons of brand logos- streetwear genius!!! Walking around repin’ so many brands never looked so cool.

Graffiti Tracker: Tool for the law or tool for the writer?

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 1:14 pm

Eli told me about this new software that the law enforcement is using to curb graffiti and vandalism called Graffiti Tracker. Someone goes around taking photos of tags and pieces and the images are then fed right into a global positioning system and database to whichever computer has the software. You can type in the moniker and it will show you every location on a map that person got up represented by a spray can icon. It will even describe what it looks like with a photo attached. It provides a “Top Ten” list of the most prolific taggers. So basically, it may help pin point an area where the tagger may live or work and once the person is caught they have a database of the amount of offenses. However, I think this is as useful a tool for the writers. If anything if I was a writer I would want to have the software myself and have all other writers own it too, so that we can see each other’s work and see all the places we got up. Because at the end of the day graffiti is about becoming famous and prolific. I would want to be #1 on the “Top Ten” list and have the map covered with icons representing where I got up. Wouldn’t you?

Top Ten List of Writers.
You can see how many more hits you need to move up a spot.

Area of concentration.
You can see which areas you need to hit more.

The kind of map writers would want to stride for.

Is she street now?

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 10:11 am

Now with Miss Hilton in jail, does that give her cred in the streetwear world? When I posted the picture below in March I immediately got hate mail and comments. I responded. What I failed to mention in my response however is the irony that there are a large handful of “streetwear” companies that have been using and continue to use her image on t-shirts and other products, and their intentions are never questioned. The same people who hated on us are probably buying the Paris tees and wearing them. There are plenty of great companies out there using Paris Hilton’s image and now with her new found cred from doing a bid I’m sure there will be more streetwear companies doing the same. Examples here, here, and here. Just remember who knew she was street before even she knew she was street.

XLARGE x Recon Traveler’s Wallet

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 1:19 pm

Available in black and charcoal, this wallet is for the seasoned traveler. Has the iconic Recon barbed wire logo all over the wallet, multiple compartments, and a sturdy leash to keep it safely attached to you. Great for everyday use and even better for those “recon” missions out in Prague or Rome or any other place where there seems to be more stickey fingers than usual. Available exclusively at the XLARGE LA store.
