“Engine Engine #9 on the New York Transit Line…”

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 9:02 am

You know how the rest of that line goes. If you’re too young to know, then it’s time to get a refresher course on your Hip Hop history.

XLARGE is proud to be the main presenter for Black Sheep’s Japan Tour. It’s kicking off on May 4th in the Shibuya neighborhood of Tokyo. It’s going to be a great show. Don’t miss this talented group perform live.

Friday XLARGE Lunch Day

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 2:05 pm

Today was our Friday XLARGE Lunch Day. We decided to take a short skip from South Korea to Japan. Ate at Koshiji in the Little Tokyo neighborhood. It was a mellow day, so everyone was feeling camera shy, hence these pretentious photos.

We still haven’t chosen a winner yet. I’ve gotten a few recommendations. We’ll eventually hit those spots soon, so keep them coming.

p.s. The prize is WELL worth it.

Welcome to XLARGE Nation

By xlarge @ 9:25 am

Tired of just reading company blogs? Bored of having content fed to you by people who think they’re the definitive word on streetwear? With the rise of blogs and myspace profiles throughout every industry, we felt it is time to take the next step. Welcome to the XLARGE Nation. This is a social network where you are not just a member, friend, or lurker, but a participant. You can be a part of the same debates and discussions that we have in the office. You can start your own rant or rave about anything going on at XLARGE or in the world. You can talk about what you want to see in the upcoming seasons at XLARGE. You can talk about what you liked the least from our past seasons. If you are an artist, or an aspiring artist, you can post your images, photos, and short films. XLARGE has always been a supporter of all things underground and the DIY spirit. We hope this is another channel for us to connect with you, and vice versa.

Who are the Drunk Bums?

By xlarge @ 3:31 pm

Who are the drunk bums? For the past couple years, a new crew has gotten up all across the eastside, from Hollywood to downtown. They write a diamond shaped “DB” in a style utterly lacking in skill or precision, which, among other things, is contrary to the acknowledged, meretricious rules of graffiti.
And yet, whether through naivety, intention or intoxication, the Drunk Bums use their uncouth mark in the sophisticated advertising (self-promotion) campaign that is graf writing, an interesting duality.
Crude….Especially when compared to some of the incredibly intricate new work you see on the streets of L.A., which boggles the mind to think that it was done with spray cans. But what is interesting about the Bums is how they embrace the instant subversion and natural — or “organic” for you Huppies(hippie/yuppies) — gratification of the crude gesture as an essential, if not the essential element of graffiti. Like scrawling a cock on the urinal wall the value of the Drunk Bums’ work is in its urgency….Or, more accurately, its immediacy.
Don’t expect to see a gallery show or a collabo with Vans anytime soon, but next time someone claims to be keeping it street…drop the Bums on ‘em.

What does Weekly Drop and XLARGE have in common?

By Paul-is-a-Future-Relic @ 5:08 pm

Weekly Drop just wrapped up the interview with Eli literally a few minutes ago. I overheard most of it and I think Jeff and Eli spent the whole time talking about Avy Scott. So catch the interview when it goes up on the web and Sirius, because Lord knows porn isn’t the topic of enough things on the internet and satellite radio.
